Gac Drives Into Melbourne City With New Deal

GAC Australia has signed a multi-year partnership with Melbourne City FC, becoming the club’s Official Automotive Partner from the 2026/27 season. In plain terms: the cars are in, and they are getting prime real estate on the shorts of both the A-League Men and Women teams.

That is not a bad bit of exposure for a brand that is trying to make itself known in Australia. The deal goes well beyond a logo slap and a handshake. GAC will be involved in match-day activations at AAMI Park, fan experiences, player appearances and digital content across Melbourne City FC’s channels. Football loves a good sponsor, naturally, but it also loves anything that keeps the lights on.

The partnership is being pitched as a long-term play, which fits GAC’s broader ambitions. The company says it recently rolled out its 30 millionth vehicle since launching in 1997, and it is leaning on a global network that includes design and R&D operations in Milan, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In other words, it wants to look international, serious and not remotely like it has just turned up with a banner and a handful of canapés.

A Deal Built For Visibility

Melbourne City says the agreement is a natural fit because both organisations talk the same language: growth, innovation and long-term investment. The club will use its men’s and women’s teams, plus its fan base and digital platforms, to help GAC build recognition in the local market. GAC, for its part, gets to attach itself to a club that has spent years trying to look and act like a modern sporting operation rather than a hastily assembled weekend hobby.

The partnership begins in the 2026/27 season, with the A-League Men kicking off on 17 October 2026. Until then, both sides have plenty of time to polish the messaging, line up the branding and remind everyone that in modern football, the sponsor is never just the sponsor.
