Mahindra Racing finally broke the curse in Monaco, taking its first Formula E victory since 2021 and its first in the Gen3 era. The lead driver delivered a textbook, composed performance to take the win, while his team-mate’s strong recovery was undone by an untimely puncture late in the day.

Qualifying

The weekend began in mixed fashion. One car was grounded by a mechanical gremlin that could not be fixed under parc ferme, forcing an unwanted long face before the race even started. The other progressed cleanly through the groups and then turned the Duels into a masterclass, besting two rivals before narrowly losing out to the eventual pole-sitter in the final shootout.

Race

The start was typical Monaco chaos controlled with the precision of someone who had practised tight corners for the fun of it. A mid-pack collision shuffled the order, giving the battling team-mate a couple of unexpected places early on, while the lead driver sat pretty behind the leader until a safety car bunched everything up.

Strategy then became the story. A pit stop on Lap 15 rejoined the lead car in the mix as the pit boost leader, and a well-timed Activation Mode on Lap 19 set up a decisive move. Into Tabac on Lap 20 the lead driver swept into the lead and never looked back, fending off late pressure and managing a full course yellow like a man with an agenda.

Meanwhile the other car, after a gutsy climb through the field, picked up a puncture that sent any points hopes spinning down the order to 17th. The winner held on, taking the chequered flag and handing the team its first taste of victory in this era.

Standings And Reaction

The maximum 25-point haul pushed the race winner up the Drivers’ Standings into the low teens, while the team-mate remained locked in third. The team itself keeps third in the Teams’ table, but after outscoring rivals in Monaco it has trimmed the gap to the top two.

Post-race emotions were predictably high. The winning driver called it an incredible day, especially meaningful at a home race with friends and family in the stands. The team-mate was rueful, pointing out that when parc ferme denies you a fix you simply have to adapt, and that a puncture on a street circuit is an occupational hazard.

The team principal praised the collective effort, noting how gratifying it was to deliver on a promise and to hear the national anthem back where it belongs. All in all, it was a big tick in the box for a squad eager to remind everyone they belong at the sharp end.
