BMW 7 Series: Neue Klasse Arrives In Australia 2026
bmw 7 series 2
BMW has sharpened its flagship. The seventh-generation 7 Series arrives in Australia in Q4 2026 and comes in two flavours: the petrol BMW 740 and the fully electric BMW i7 60 xDrive. Think more presence, more screens and enough tech to make your house feel obsolete.
Price, Power And Range
Want numbers? The BMW 740 starts at $277,900 and packs a 3.0-litre six-cylinder with mild-hybrid help: 280 kW, 580 Nm and 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h.
If you prefer to be silently smug, the i7 60 xDrive begins at $306,900. Dual motors deliver 400 kW and 745 Nm, hitting 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and a 240 km/h top end. Thanks to sixth-generation eDrive tech and cylindrical Gen6 cells, the i7 claims up to 727 km WLTP range and 250 kW DC charging for a 10-80% charge in about 28 minutes.
Design And Presence
BMW calls it a monolithic luxury language. Translation: a cleaner, more assertive silhouette, a glowing Iconic Glow kidney and minimalist crystal headlights. You will not mistake it for anything else in the mirror.

Interior And Audio Theatre
Inside is where the 7 Series stops pretending to be a car and starts acting like a private cinema. BMW Panoramic iDrive brings a 17.9-inch central display, a 3D head-up option and a new BMW Passenger Screen for the front-seat companion. Rear passengers get the optional BMW Theatre Screen with 8K streaming, gaming and a legitimate cinematic experience paired to a Bowers & Wilkins system with Dolby Atmos.

Tech, Driving Aids And Comfort
Neue Klasse tech is no marketing fluff. The 7 Series is the first luxury sedan to roll out the architecture and software that will underpin future BMWs: updated electronics, over-the-air updates, enhanced BMW Maps and Digital Key Plus. AI enters the mix with BMW Symbiotic Drive for smarter assistance and more intuitive parking and low-speed manoeuvres.

Options, Packages And The First Edition
Want to make it special? The First Edition Package, offered for the first 12 months, bundles BMW Individual Merino leather or a wool-cashmere option, 21-inch Individual wheels and two-tone paint. It costs $12,900 on the 740 and is included with the i7 60 xDrive. There are M Sport and M Sport Pro packages if you insist on looking sporty while being chauffeured.
Chassis, Comfort And Protection
Adaptive two-axle air suspension with four electronically controlled dampers is standard, with Integral Active Steering and an Adaptive Chassis Control Professional option on the i7. And for those with security concerns, there is a Protection variant with multi-layer armouring and VR9-level certification.
Where It’s Built
All variants are built at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. Production will incorporate more recycled materials and reduced CO2e in the i7’s lifecycle, including aluminium rims with high recycled content and other sustainability measures.
In short: sharper looks, more electricity, more screens and a stronger claim to the luxury crown. If you have the budget and the driveway, the new 7 Series will have you covered — whether you prefer to drive it or be driven in it.
