Hyundai has chopped a neat $8,000 off the KONA Electric and IONIQ 5 ranges – the IONIQ 5 N remains outside this bargain basement sale. The move reshuffles trims, nudges specs, and makes its best-selling small and medium EVs a lot harder to ignore.

For bargain hunters the headline is simple. KONA Electric Standard Range now starts from $46,000 MLP. There is a new Elite grade sitting between Standard and Premium, priced from $53,000. The Extended range and sportier options remain, so there is still something for those who want a bit more pace or kit.

The IONIQ 5 has been revised too. Excluding the high-performance 5 N, the line-up now starts at $68,200 MLP, bringing the mid-size EV into reach for more buyers. The Premium N Line gains leather sport seats with N logos in place of the previous suede option, which will please those who like their cabin to look as serious as the badge suggests.

Range And Specification Changes

Price cuts do not arrive alone. Hyundai has tweaked specifications across both ranges. Some features have been removed from certain grades – think electrochromic mirrors, V2L inside connection, portable emergency charging cable, and the heat pump on some models. Others have been added or enhanced, such as larger wheels, leather appointed seats, and additional convenience kit on Elite and Premium grades.

The new KONA Electric Elite brings a sensible mix of range and equipment, offering around 444 km on the extended battery and adding leather appointed seats, 19 inch wheels, power seats and heated front seats. Premium trims keep the full works for those who want Bose audio, ventilated seats, advanced driver aids and the odd bit of theatre like a head up display.

Practicalities And When You Can Buy

The revised ranges are available to order now, with dealer arrivals beginning in June. All prices quoted are Manufacturer List Price and exclude dealer delivery and on road costs. Aftercare remains a focus too, with the usual factory warranty and battery coverage included under Hyundai’s servicing terms.

In short, if you have been waiting for the electric range to get a dose of common sense pricing, this is it. Trim choices are tidier, the middle ground now looks tempting, and the starting points are notably lower. Whether you want cheap, sensible, or slightly pretentious with leather and logo embellishments, there is now a Kona or an Ioniq aimed squarely at you.
