Monaco delivered sun, yachts, and the usual tight-quarters carnage, yet Mahindra Racing walked away with a respectable points haul. The team’s lead driver crossed the line in the top five on the road only to be nudged down to fifth after a time penalty, while the team-mate produced a gutsy recovery from 15th to a top-ten finish.

Qualifying

The two cars were both in Group A. One driver sliced through to the duels and came out of the semi final third on the grid. The other put in a solid group effort but ended up starting well back in 15th. Small differences in Monaco make big differences on the scoreboard.

Race Start

Both cars held station through Turn 1. Into the Nouvelle chicane the lead driver made contact with a rival, briefly emerging at the head of the pack but picking up a 10 second time penalty for the incident. Monaco is merciless and the stewards are not in a charitable mood.

Attack Mode

The lead driver spent much of the race trading places in the top three, playing the Attack Mode chess game at the front. A well-timed activation dropped him behind a rival, but extra power and a bit of elbow showed him back up the order. Further down the field the team-mate played the long game, conserving energy before using Attack Mode to climb from the mid teens into the top ten.

After a brief Full Course Yellow and both protagonists using their final boosts, the lead driver crossed the line second on the road but was demoted to fifth after the penalty. The team-mate limped home inside the top ten, a recovery worth a nod and a fist pump.

Championship Standings

A double points weekend was enough for the team to retain third in the Teams Championship. The lead driver keeps third in the Drivers table, and the team-mate’s points haul nudged him into the top ten. Next stop is Sanya on 20 June.

Hear From The Team

The lead driver apologised for the contact, noting that Monaco is a place where a few centimetres can cause chaos. He lamented the lost podium but insisted the car was strong and that everything feels possible with the package they have this year.

The recovering driver described the weekend as positive, saying that starting 15th made today tricky but that the team showed good pace and came away with useful points.

The team principal called the weekend largely satisfying, pointing out that despite missing a podium the squad delivered an excellent recovery and a points double. With another win taken earlier in the weekend, the mood is cautiously optimistic heading into the next race.
