Chery Australia has decided to do something sensible and slightly showy in equal measure. The brand has supplied two loan vehicles to the New South Wales Police Force to support crime prevention work in the Burwood Police Area Command. They will be used for youth outreach, community engagement and general good deeds across suburbs from Earlwood to Rhodes.

The cars are the Tiggo 7 CSH and the Tiggo 9 CSH. Both are compact SUVs dressed up as the sort of sensible transport that can also hand out a reassuring presence on the street. Both models use Chery’s Super Hybrid technology, allowing up to 1200 kilometres of driving on a single tank of fuel and battery charge. The Tiggo 7 pairs a single electric motor with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. The Tiggo 9 goes further with two extra electric motors, producing a combined 315 kilowatts and 580 newton metres.
