Kia Australia has lifted the curtain on the refreshed EV6, which will be rolling into showrooms imminently. It has a slightly sharper face, a comfier interior, more usable range and, astonishingly, barely a change at the till. Across the range the price has nudged up by a meagre $70. Not a typo. Seventy dollars. You could buy a very modest set of charging cables and still have change.

Pricing And Range

The headline move is a larger 84 kWh high-voltage battery for the Long Range model, and that brings genuinely useful range numbers. All variants now benefit from the small price adjustment.

– Long Range Air RWD, single motor RWD, 84 kWh, up to 582 km WLTP, RRP $72,660, +$70.
– GT-Line RWD, single motor RWD, 84 kWh, up to 560 km WLTP, RRP $79,660, +$70.
– GT-Line AWD, dual motor AWD, 84 kWh, up to 522 km WLTP, RRP $87,660, +$70.
– GT AWD, dual motor AWD, 84 kWh, up to 450 km WLTP, RRP $99,660, +$70.

Refreshed Styling And Interior

Kia has kept the EV6’s silhouette but sharpened it where it matters. The new Star Map lighting gives the headlights and daytime running lights a techy, wing-like look that makes the front end appear broader and more composed. The bumper has cleaner, more decisive angles and the bonnet sports bolder bodylines that flow into the air intake, so it no longer looks like it woke up in a hurry.

At the rear, three-dimensional taillights echo that Star Map theme and the bumper adopts a wide, wing-type shape that ties the whole car together visually. Wheel choices run from 19 to 21 inches depending on trim, which means you can either nibble through town or pretend you are attacking the Nürburgring. Inside, the horizontal dash layout amplifies a roomy feel. Standard kit includes a dual 12.3-inch display combining instruments and centre screen, plus a new steering wheel design and a neater centre console. Fingerprint recognition has been added to GT-Line and GT models, because apparently locking your car with a thumb is now peak convenience.

Infotainment And Connectivity

The infotainment system moves to ccNc software for sharper graphics and smoother operation. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, so no more fumbling for cables. Kia Connect is now integrated, providing connected services for safety, security and convenience, and every EV6 will accept Over The Air software updates. In plain English, that means the car can get smarter without you having to visit a dealer.

Bigger Battery And Driving Dynamics

The battery capacity grows from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh for the Long Range, which translates into the improved WLTP numbers you see above. On the handling front the GT has had genuine attention. Engineers fitted stiffer rear sway bars and softer front springs globally, and Australia sees a local retune of suspension and steering to match. The result is more natural steering feel, improved cornering accuracy and a better sense of grip at the limit. Drive modes have been reworked to deliver a more composed ride over rough surfaces and greater confidence when pushing on. In short, it rides smarter and feels more connected to the road.

Overall, the new EV6 is an evolutionary update that tightens the package where it counts: range, tech, and on-road manners. And all for the price of lunch and a coffee, if you insist on splitting that $70.
