Beijing, Auto China 2026: Nissan rolled into the show with not one but two NEV SUV concepts, a wink to buyers and a slap at anyone who thought it was taking a breather.

Two New SUV Concepts Make Global Debut

The Urban SUV PHEV Concept is aimed squarely at younger city buyers. It borrows styling cues from the NX8 and the companys upcoming SUV family, pairing plug in power with city driving manners and looks that say you know how to park in style.

There is a more composed urban angle too, showing how the concept dresses up a downtown street without breaking a sweat.

The Terrano PHEV Concept brings back a familiar name with a fresh, hybrid twist. It promises real off road ability while staying sensible enough for the weekly commute. In other words, it wants to be both muddy and practical.

For a clearer look at proportions and stance, there is a three quarter side study that makes the Terranos silhouette and credentials obvious.

Production versions of both concepts are slated to appear within a year, and three more NEV models are planned in China by fiscal 2027. Export plans are in motion too, with models such as the N7 and Frontier Pro earmarked for Latin America and ASEAN, and the NX8 and Terrano production model intended for selected global markets. The ambition is one million annual sales in China by fiscal 2030, with exports playing a big part.

China As A Lead Market And Innovation Hub

Under the new vision, Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life, China serves two roles: a huge domestic market and a speed factory for ideas and technology that can be shipped around the world. The plan is to combine global quality with local speed to build competitive cars that actually sell.

Put simply, Nissan is not dabbling. It is accelerating its NEV offensive, and these two concepts are the sort of loud, confident opening gambits that suggest it means business.
