Goodwood got an early lesson in electric swagger when Range Rover quietly previewed the Sport Electric. This is not a softened, sensible cousin of the Range Rover. It is the same muscular silhouette, now wired for instant shove and a soundtrack designed to make you grin.

The Sport Electric is the brand’s second fully electric model and it was put through theatrical and genuine tests on the Goodwood circuit and demonstration ramps. The electric setup unlocks more power and torque, while a new chassis tune and bespoke audio make every shove feel immediate and purposeful.

It will slot into a line up that already includes plug in hybrids and petrol variants, completing the family when it arrives later in 2026. The promise is sporting luxury with fewer excuses for sluggishness and more of the acute response enthusiasts expect.

The Hardware

Under the skin is modern EV architecture: a skateboard battery layout, high voltage plumbing and upgraded cooling and suspension calibration that separate compliant cruisers from engaging performers. The prototype on show made it clear the package aims to be both composed and invigorating.

Prototype badging and styling cues were on full display at Goodwood, a reminder that this is a proper Range Rover wearing electric power like a tailored suit. It looks capable, it looks expensive and it looks like it will go rather quickly.

Full technical details and pricing will be revealed later in 2026. For now the Sport Electric has achieved the essential thing: it made an electric Range Rover Sport feel bold, purposeful and slightly dangerous, which is exactly the point.
