Honda has shoved a sportier cap on its best-selling small SUV and called it RS. Meet the 2026 HR-V E:HEV RS, the new top dog in the HR-V range, wearing a smidge more attitude and a lot more Bernina Black trim.

The HR-V family grew up fast in 2025, sales jumping 44 percent, so it makes sense to give buyers something flashier to spend that newfound confidence on. The RS joins three other grades, three of which boast Honda’s two-motor hybrid setup, and it brings upgraded exterior bits and a few interior tweaks to prove it is worth the extra coin.

On the outside the RS gets an RS emblem, a Bernina Black grille, lower door and bumper garnish and black door mirrors, plus 18-inch wheels. Inside, the sport theme continues with trimmed surfaces and a slightly tougher mood than the regular HR-V; think smarter, not shoutier.

Tech is sensible rather than showy. Gen 2 Honda Connect with Google Built In is standard across the range, so you get smartphone integration without faffing about. Safety kit includes post-collision braking and the full Honda SENSING suite. In short: the bits you want are there, in a neat, non-obtrusive package.

If you care about the practical stuff, the HR-V does not disappoint. The rear seats fold flat and the underfloor storage is usefully clever, so it is as useful for IKEA runs as it is for pretending you do weekend adventures.

Colours? Six options, with Crystal Black making a vanity return exclusively for the RS. The full list includes Platinum White, Premium White Silver, Slate Grey, Premium Crystal Red, Botanical Green and Crystal Black.

Specs And Pricing

The HR-V range now spans a competent item for the budget-conscious to this new top-grade hybrid. Prices are estimated driveaway and will vary by state.

VTi X – 1.5L i-VTEC engine, 2WD – $32,900

E:HEV X – 1.5L engine plus 2-motor hybrid system – $39,900

E:HEV L – Hybrid mid grade – $42,900

E:HEV RS (New) – Hybrid flagship with sporty trim – $44,400

Why It Matters

The RS is Honda doubling down on hybrid momentum across the range. It gives buyers a sportier-looking HR-V without asking for a sportscar wallet. Warranty and ownership promises remain generous: five years unlimited kilometre warranty, five years premium roadside assistance and a package of low price services to keep running costs predictable.

In short, the HR-V E:HEV RS is the sensible small SUV that decided to have a little fun. It will please the practical buyers and annoy the flashier rivals by being quietly accomplished rather than theatrically loud.
