Cupra has shoved another clever hybrid into its Australian line up and called it the Leon Ve Hatch. It is a plug-in hybrid that aims to be useful rather than preachy: good electric range for commutes, petrol for escapes, and a bit of attitude to keep it from being boring.

The Leon Ve joins the refreshed Leon family as the new 150kW plug-in hybrid option. Official combined fuel consumption is a dainty 1.4 L/100 km under WLTP testing, reflecting the focus on electric-first daily use. Pricing in Australia slots the Leon Ve Hatch at an RRP of $62,990, with recommended driveaway prices varying slightly by state. Showrooms will start taking orders now, with first deliveries beginning in June.
