Meet the e VITARA: the compact SUV that finally learned to plug itself in and kept its sensible shoes on. Suzuki has taken a familiar nameplate, given it proper electric bones and is offering pre-orders from $46,990 drive-away. No fanfare, no fuss, just a pragmatic electric SUV that promises to do the job without tantrums.

Variants And Range

The e VITARA comes in two trims. The Motion is front-wheel drive with a 49 kWh battery and a claimed 344 km range. The Ultra steps up to a 61 kWh pack, all-wheel drive and a quoted 395 km range. Both boast the same tidy cabin design, an Integrated Display System and ambient lighting with 12 colour choices if you are the sort of person who enjoys mood sets while reversing into a parking spot.

Pricing And Pre-Order Deal

Early adopters get a little carrot. The first 100 pre-orders placed before 1 July 2026 score intro drive-away prices: Motion from $46,990 and Ultra from $56,990. After that, standard drive-away pricing applies: Motion $49,990 and Ultra $58,990. Deliveries are expected to begin in July 2026.

Platform, Motors And How It Drives

Underneath sits Suzuki’s new HEARTECT-e platform, built for battery electric vehicles to eke out cabin space, robustness and range. The Ultra uses a dual-motor setup for genuine torque distribution between front and rear wheels, while selectable driving modes let you pick Normal, Eco or Sport. There’s also Snow mode for the Motion and a Trail mode exclusive to the AWD Ultra if you fancy a bit of dirt.

Equipment, Safety And Practicalities

Equipment levels are tidy rather than theatrical. The Motion gets 18-inch alloys, 10.1-inch centre display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 360-degree camera system. The Ultra adds a 61 kWh battery, ALLGRIP-e AWD, adaptive high beam, glass roof, heated front seats and a subwoofer if soundtrack quality matters to you.

Safety is comprehensive: ANCAP 4-star (based on Euro NCAP), seven airbags and a full roster of driver assists – AEB, lane keeping, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise and more. Battery warranty runs to 8 years or 160,000 km and a 5 year/100,000 km genuine service program is included for routine maintenance.

Simple Extras

Every car comes with a Type 2 charging cable and a bespoke storage bag that nods to Suzuki’s craftsmanship. Charging times are competitive: DC rapid charge to 80% in about 45 minutes, and AC home charging overnight will top you up for the next day.

In short: the e VITARA is not trying to rewrite the rulebook. It is a pragmatic, well-equipped compact electric SUV that keeps the sensible bits of the Vitara nameplate and adds plug-in convenience. If you want an uncomplicated entry into EV ownership without the drama, this one is worth a look.
