Think the C 43 was already eager to sprint? Meet the Edition R+. It looks meaner, sounds urgent and makes no apologies for wanting a corner all to itself. The headline trick is the AMG Styling Package, applied to the C 43 for the first time and drenched in high-gloss black bits intended to make other cars feel underdressed.

Sharper Exterior Presence

The AMG Styling Package sharpens the face with a high-gloss black front splitter and flics around the air inlets, while a larger gloss black spoiler lip perches on the boot to stare down the road. The rear apron borrows a diffuser board and winglets straight from the C 63 S E PERFORMANCE, so from behind the Edition R+ looks like it might bite. Night Package treatments darken the rest of the trim for a coherent, purposeful look.

Performance Focused Engineering

Under the skin, nothing radical changes the physics: AMG DYNAMIC PLUS and AMG TRACK PACE are standard, so you get race-ready engine mounts, a selectable RACE mode for the track, and a performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa and microfibre. AMG TRACK PACE logs more than 80 vehicle-specific data points for circuit analysis, should you fancy interrogating lap times between coffee stops.

Power comes from an AMG 2.0-litre four cylinder with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger and 48-volt tech, rated at up to 310 kW and 500 Nm and routed through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G gearbox and 4MATIC drive. In short: quick, focused and very much on the sporty side of sensible.

Cabin And Equipment

The cabin keeps the theatrics tasteful. The Edition R+ gets AMG Performance seats in ARTICO man-made leather with microfibre inserts, pronounced bolsters and AMG lettering on the backrests. Tech is up to date: an 11.9-inch central MBUX screen with Navigation Premium, Burmester 3D sound, head-up display and a panoramic sliding sunroof are all part of the package.

Rolling stock and chassis bits stay aggressive too: 20-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke wheels in matt black with red brake calipers, AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive damping and rear-axle steering for composure when you decide to exploit the chassis.

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Edition R+ will be offered in Australia in limited numbers, on sale from 1 May 2026 with an MRLP of $121,200. It is essentially the C 43 turned up a notch in both looks and kit, for those who prefer their mid-size performance with a darker wardrobe.
