Skoda has completed its large SUV line-up with a PHEV version of the Kodiaq Select, arriving with an RRP of $63,490. It sits above the petrol-only Select at $54,990 and the Sportline at $58,990, while offering a different kind of charm from the performance-led RS, now priced at $69,990.
Performance, Economy And Electric Range
The Kodiaq Select PHEV marries a 1.5 TSI petrol engine with an 85 kW electric motor, yielding a combined 150 kW and 350 Nm. That is enough to hustle this roomy thing from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, which is brisk for a seven-seat SUV. On electric power alone it can manage up to 112 km on the WLTP test cycle. Charging is flexible, with 11 kW AC and 50 kW DC options, and combined-cycle fuel consumption can be as low as 1.85 litres per 100 km in ideal conditions.
Drive Modes And Practicality
Drivers get a sensible array of modes, including pure E-mode and hybrid operation, plus selectable regenerative braking set to low, high or automatic. Battery management offers automatic mode, where the engine can top up the battery, or a manual mode that only accepts plug-in charging. The five-seat PHEV gives you a large 745 litre boot, which means you can still fit the shopping, the suitcases and the weekend toys without sulking.
Equipment And Safety
Select PHEV models come well appointed as standard. Think 19 inch alloy wheels, keyless access, heated and power-folding mirrors, a power driver seat and heated front seats, plus tri-zone climate control. The infotainment screen measures 13 inches, with DAB+, navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are twin 15W wireless chargers with active ventilation and five USB-C ports, one tucked into the rear-view mirror. Safety kit is comprehensive, with Adaptive Cruise Control, Travel Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Side Assist, Lane Assist with Adaptive Lane Guidance, Turn Assist, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and nine airbags.
Options And Comfort
For an extra $6,500 the Signature Package can be added to Select and Select PHEV cars. It bundles features such as eight-way massage front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat with lumbar and memory, Intelligent Park Assist, Surround Area View, Matrix LED headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, an illuminated front grille, Virtual Pedal for hands-free tailgate access, heated steering wheel, heated outboard rear seats, a head-up display and rear dynamic indicators. In short, it turns an already sensible family mover into something rather posh.
Warranty, Value And Lineup
Skoda positions this PHEV as part of a full-choice strategy for families who want five or seven seats and petrol, plug-in hybrid or fully electric power. All models in the range are backed by a seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty and guaranteed future value through Skoda Choice, which is intended to make ownership less fiddly and more reassuring.
