Navara Tuned For Oz: Local Suspension Testing Triumph

Nissan has dropped a behind the scenes video showing how the new Navara was not merely sent down under and hoped for the best. Instead, the pickup underwent a proper local engineering program here in Australia, with Premcar brought in to help ensure the ute suits the peculiar demands of Trans-Tasman life. The global reveal is pencilled in for November 19, 2025.

Australia and New Zealand do not do subtle with their utes. They are daily work machines, weekend explorers and family transport all in one. That means a truck that behaves well when empty and when laden, that tows without drama, and that soaks up rough roads without tipping into a funeral procession. Nissan’s team recognised that a one-size-fits-all approach would not cut it.

Suspension Put Through Its Paces

Premcar, known locally for rugged off-road engineering, led an intense suspension program for the Navara. The process involved real world testing across a variety of Australian surfaces, from smooth suburban bitumen to corrugated outback tracks. Each setup was evaluated under different loads, from sweet nothing in the tray to full payload, and while towing.

The goal was straightforward, and refreshingly unambiguous: produce a ride and handling package that inspires confidence whether the ute is carrying a load or heading off the beaten path. The testing covered urban driving, country roads and genuine off-road terrain, so the Navara’s suspension could be tuned to cope with whatever an owner might throw at it.

Local Know-How, Global Ambition

This program is part of a long-standing pattern of local engineering work that aims to ensure vehicles are not just globally competent but locally excellent. The new Navara builds on decades of hands-on evaluation and tuning in the region, shaped by experience with generations of utes and off-roaders.

The domestic testing film is the last of three teasers ahead of the November 19 global unveiling. The Navara is slated to arrive in Australia and New Zealand in the first half of 2026 and will be supported by Nissan’s ownership program, which includes an extended warranty option when serviced with authorised dealers.
