Rockstar has finally given us something more useful than another 90 seconds of footage for the internet to disassemble frame by frame. The new Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix last night, delivered 26 minutes of in-game footage and confirmed several things about Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, including just how central their relationship is to both the story and gameplay. We see the pair working together during missions, driving and fighting alongside one another and switching between them during the action, while Rockstar has confirmed the footage was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. That makes this a particularly good time to look properly at the Main Chartacters in GTA 6, because we can now separate a decent amount of confirmed information from the theories, leaks and elaborate detective work that have filled the gap since GTA 6 was first revealed.
Jason Duval
Jason Duval is one of GTA 6’s two playable protagonists and, based on everything Rockstar has shown so far, he is the more reluctant half of the partnership.

Rockstar says Jason grew up around grifters and criminals before joining the Army in an attempt to escape his troubled teenage years. Whatever hopes he had of becoming a respectable citizen apparently did not survive contact with reality, because he eventually found himself in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners.
That military background is more important than simply giving Rockstar an excuse for Jason to be unusually competent with firearms. It establishes him as someone who has already tried to leave criminal life behind and failed. He is not necessarily entering GTA 6 dreaming about building an enormous criminal empire. Rockstar characterises him as someone who wants an easier life but keeps finding himself dragged further into trouble.

At the beginning of the story, Jason appears to be working closely with Brian Heder, an ageing smuggler operating around the Keys. Brian lets Jason live in one of his properties without paying rent, although there is the small matter of Jason carrying out local shakedowns in return. This is less “generous landlord” and more “rent paid through organised crime”, but property markets are difficult everywhere.
The Netflix Extended Look strengthens the idea that Jason is not simply Lucia’s driver or muscle. He is a full protagonist with his own relationships, criminal contacts and position within Leonida before their larger story really begins. The new footage also confirms that players can move between Jason and Lucia during gameplay, rather than their partnership existing mainly in cutscenes.
Jason’s central conflict may therefore be fairly straightforward: he wants something better, but every attempt to improve his situation seems to require becoming involved in something considerably worse.
Lucia Caminos
Lucia Caminos is the other half of GTA 6, and she appears to be the character with the clearer plan.
Rockstar says Lucia’s father taught her how to fight almost as soon as she could walk. Fighting for her family eventually landed her inside Leonida Penitentiary, and she enters the wider story after getting out of prison. Her ambitions are tied heavily to family, particularly her desire to achieve the better life her mother had dreamed about since their time living in Liberty City.

Where Jason seems to be wondering how he keeps ending up in criminal situations, Lucia appears considerably more willing to take control of them.
That difference could be what makes their partnership interesting. Rockstar’s official story description says an easy score goes wrong and leaves Jason and Lucia caught inside a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida, forcing them to depend heavily on one another.
The obvious comparison is Bonnie and Clyde, and Rockstar is hardly trying to hide it. But Lucia already appears to be more than simply one half of a criminal couple. The new Netflix footage puts considerable focus on Jason and Lucia functioning as a genuine team, with the player able to control them separately or have them working together.

Earlier footage also showed Lucia leaving prison and apparently being subject to supervision afterwards. The supplied material points to her ankle monitor and community-service scenes as possible evidence that Rockstar could initially restrict how freely she can travel around Leonida. That remains an interesting theory rather than something Rockstar has formally confirmed.
Whatever happens mechanically, Lucia looks set to be the person pushing the pair forward. She wants money, independence and a different life, and she appears prepared to make considerably more aggressive choices to get there.
Jason and Lucia’s relationship could drive the entire story
The biggest difference between GTA 6 and GTA 5 may not be its enormous recreation of Florida. It could be the relationship between its two protagonists.
GTA 5 deliberately bounced between Michael, Franklin and Trevor, three men whose personal priorities frequently collided. GTA 6 appears to be doing something much more intimate. Jason and Lucia are partners romantically, personally and criminally, meaning a bad decision does not simply affect the next mission. It potentially affects the person standing beside you during it.
The Netflix Extended Look makes that relationship feel more important than it did in the earlier trailers. They are shown living together, going out together, committing crimes together and functioning as a pair during missions. Character switching returns, but it now seems designed around two people whose lives are genuinely connected rather than three protagonists scattered across Los Santos.
That could give Rockstar considerably more room for tension. Money, trust, ambition and self-preservation tend to become complicated when everyone involved is holding a firearm.
Brian Heder
Brian Heder is one of Jason’s most important connections before Lucia begins pulling him towards something bigger.
Rockstar describes Brian as a drug runner from the golden era of smuggling in the Leonida Keys. He still moves product through his boatyard with his third wife, Lori, but he has been doing this long enough to understand one of the fundamental rules of successful criminal enterprise: wherever possible, get somebody younger to do the dangerous part.

Jason is one of those people.
Brian gives him accommodation in return for helping with shakedowns and appears to use Jason in his wider operation. That places Brian somewhere between employer, landlord and criminal mentor, which is the sort of relationship that tends to end brilliantly in Rockstar games.
He is also clearly not supposed to be dismissed as an ageing beach bum. Rockstar presents him as someone who may appear relaxed but remains dangerous and experienced.

Whether Brian eventually betrays Jason is unknown. GTA and Red Dead Redemption have certainly taught players to become suspicious whenever an older criminal starts behaving like a father figure, but there is currently no confirmation that Brian becomes an antagonist.
For now, he represents Jason’s old life. That could become increasingly important if Lucia convinces Jason to leave it behind.
Cal Hampton
Cal Hampton is Jason’s friend, a fellow associate of Brian and possibly the GTA 6 character most likely to own several emergency generators.
Rockstar describes Cal as someone who feels safest at home monitoring Coast Guard communications, drinking beer and disappearing into private browser tabs. He is paranoid, deeply suspicious of the world and apparently fairly content to remain exactly where he is.

The temptation is to dismiss Cal as comic relief, but his habit of listening to Coast Guard radio traffic is actually extremely useful when your employer happens to move illegal cargo around the Keys.
The original research material also points to footage apparently showing Cal involved in recovering contraband from the water during smuggling operations. That would suggest his paranoia has a practical application beyond shouting theories at Jason over several beers.
More interesting is the contrast Rockstar draws between the two friends. Cal seems happy with his small corner of Leonida. Jason wants more.

That creates an obvious question. Once Jason and Lucia begin climbing towards larger jobs and more serious criminals, does Cal come with them or get left behind?
Raul Bautista
Raul Bautista looks like the character most likely to transform Jason and Lucia from local criminals into people being discussed on television news reports.

Rockstar describes Raul as a seasoned bank robber with confidence, charm and enough experience to recruit talented criminals for increasingly dangerous scores. The company also specifically says Raul’s recklessness causes the stakes to rise with every robbery.
That tells us quite a lot about his likely function.
Brian connects Jason with smuggling. Raul appears to connect Jason and Lucia with serious organised robbery.
Rockstar’s footage has shown the pair involved in larger armed jobs, and Raul appears exactly the sort of character capable of providing the bridge between relatively small criminal work and the enormous set-piece robberies GTA inevitably reaches.
There has already been plenty of speculation about whether Raul will eventually betray Jason and Lucia. The original research points out that his white suit and purple shirt resemble Lance Vance’s clothing in GTA: Vice City, which is entertaining considering how Lance’s relationship with Tommy Vercetti ended.
It could be deliberate foreshadowing. It could also just be Rockstar nodding towards Vice City. Until somebody starts shooting at somebody else, it remains speculation.
What matters is that Raul is confirmed to be reckless, ambitious and prepared to keep increasing the risk. Even without a betrayal, that sounds like an excellent way to get everyone killed.
Boobie Ike
Boobie Ike gives GTA 6 access to a very different version of Vice City’s criminal world.
He has managed to build what Rockstar calls a legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. Naturally, because this is Grand Theft Auto, the drug money underneath it has not disappeared. It has simply acquired business cards.
Boobie owns the Jack of Hearts club and is involved with Dre’Quan Priest’s Only Raw Records. Rockstar presents him as a local Vice City figure who has managed to turn his criminal history into businesses that operate in plain sight.

That makes him quite different from Brian.
Brian operates from a boatyard, moving product around the Keys and letting other people perform shakedowns. Boobie has moved into property, nightlife and entertainment. He represents the point where criminal money begins wearing a nice shirt and describing itself as entrepreneurship.
The Jack of Hearts has appeared repeatedly in GTA 6 material, so there is every reason to expect Boobie’s world to form a meaningful part of the story rather than simply providing another club players can stumble into at 3am.
Dre’Quan Priest
Dre’Quan Priest is connected to Boobie, but his ambitions are centred on music rather than becoming a traditional gangster.
Rockstar says Dre’Quan was always more of a hustler and wanted to break into music even while he was dealing on the streets to survive. He now runs Only Raw Records and has signed Real Dimez as he tries to establish himself properly in the Vice City music industry.

This could become one of GTA 6’s more interesting side stories because contemporary music, social media and nightlife give Rockstar an absurd amount of material to mock.
GTA has always enjoyed taking apart celebrity culture. Vice City’s modern equivalent gives Rockstar TikTok-style fame, viral musicians, influencers, streaming numbers, nightclub promotion and the peculiar modern phenomenon where somebody can become globally recognisable before having enough songs to fill an EP.
Dre’Quan appears to sit right in the middle of that.
His connection with Boobie also makes him another potential doorway into Vice City for Jason and Lucia. How directly their stories overlap has not yet been completely explained, but Rockstar clearly considers Dre’Quan significant enough to give him his own official profile.
Bae-Luxe and Roxy, aka Real Dimez
Bae-Luxe and Roxy make up the rap duo Real Dimez, and they may be Rockstar’s clearest attempt yet to build modern social-media culture directly into a GTA storyline.

The pair have been friends since high school and, according to Rockstar, turned their experience shaking down dealers into music and online attention. An earlier track with local rapper DWNPLY gave them a taste of success, and they have since signed with Dre’Quan’s Only Raw Records hoping to produce another hit.
Footage has shown the duo creating exactly the sort of content GTA 6’s version of the internet appears obsessed with, including cars, public roads, burnouts and the general belief that traffic laws become optional when someone is filming vertically.
Their inclusion matters because Rockstar is clearly making social media part of Leonida rather than simply using it as background decoration.
Real Dimez give that satire actual characters with ambitions, careers and financial interests attached to it.
They could also be a useful example of how crime works differently across GTA 6’s cast. Raul’s world is robbery. Brian’s is smuggling. Boobie’s is business. Real Dimez turn reputation and online visibility into currency.
That variety is exactly what the supporting cast needs.
Lori Heder
Lori Heder is Brian’s third wife and is officially mentioned by Rockstar as being involved in his smuggling operation.
She does not currently receive the same dedicated character treatment as Brian, Cal or Raul, but there are reasons to suspect she will be more than scenery around the boatyard.

The supplied footage analysis notes appearances where Lori is armed, suggesting she is comfortable participating in the less respectable side of Brian’s business.
Exactly how substantial her role becomes remains unknown, but Rockstar specifically naming her when describing Brian’s operation makes her worth watching.
Are the GTA 6 voice actors confirmed?
Not completely.
There has been extensive speculation surrounding the actors playing Jason and Lucia, with fans comparing voices, appearances, previous acting roles and interviews.
The supplied research discusses Manny L. Perez as the rumoured performer behind Lucia and other community theories surrounding Jason, Brian and several supporting characters.
But Rockstar has not formally announced the complete GTA 6 voice cast.
That means those identities should still be treated as rumours rather than confirmed credits, regardless of how convinced the internet has become.
And given the internet once spent months analysing the shape of clouds in GTA screenshots, a little restraint is probably healthy.
Why GTA 6’s supporting cast matters
The most promising thing about the characters Rockstar has introduced is that they do not all appear to exist within the same little criminal bubble.
Brian and Cal connect Jason with the Leonida Keys and smuggling. Raul provides a path towards professional robbery. Boobie Ike represents property, clubs and established Vice City money. Dre’Quan and Real Dimez connect the story to music, nightlife and social-media fame.
Then Jason and Lucia sit in the middle of everything.
That gives Rockstar a logical way to move players around Leonida without every mission feeling like it was assigned because somebody happened to call the protagonist’s mobile phone.
A large open world needs reasons to move through it. Characters are often much better at providing those reasons than collectible icons and enormous checklists.
If Rockstar gets the relationships right, travelling from the Keys into Vice City or out towards other parts of Leonida should feel like moving between different criminal ecosystems rather than simply crossing another bit of map.
So, who are the Main Chartacters in GTA 6?
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are unquestionably the two most important characters in GTA 6. They are the playable protagonists, their relationship sits at the centre of the story and the new Netflix Extended Look has now given us our clearest evidence yet of how closely their stories and gameplay are intertwined.

Around them, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Raul Bautista, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Bae-Luxe and Roxy currently form the most important officially established supporting cast. Lori Heder is also confirmed, while several other characters seen in footage remain less clearly defined.

That roster already tells us something about GTA 6.
Rockstar is not simply building a story around Jason and Lucia robbing their way through Vice City. It is surrounding them with different layers of Leonida’s economy, from ageing smugglers and professional thieves to nightclub owners, musicians and people trying to turn social-media attention into actual money.
The Main Chartacters in GTA 6 therefore matter because they look set to provide the connective tissue holding Rockstar’s enormous version of Leonida together.
Jason wants an easier life. Lucia wants a better one. Brian already has Jason working for him, Raul keeps chasing bigger scores and half of Vice City appears to be trying to turn crime into a legitimate business.
In other words, everyone has a plan.
Considering this is Grand Theft Auto, that is probably the first warning sign.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
