So here we are again, being told electric cars are sensible and dull, and then BMW goes and makes them properly tempting. The iX1 xDrive30 now starts at $77,900 and the iX2 xDrive30 at $79,900. If you want a bit more swagger the iX1 Sport Collection is available as a national driveaway for $79,900.

These are not cheap trinkets. Both models use a dual motor set up that delivers 230kW and 494Nm to all four wheels, which means brisk, confident progress without the noise of a combustion engine grumbling for attention.

Performance And Tech

Under the skin the cars have been upgraded with silicon carbide inverters, a bit of electrical sorcery that boosts efficiency, power density and, crucially, range. Add adaptive M suspension and 19 inch M light-alloy wheels on the Sport Collection and you have a package that tries to be sporty while still behaving like a sensible household appliance.

Equipment And Value

The Sport Collection dresses the iX1 in Alpine White, M Sport trim and Veganza black upholstery, and includes features such as seat heating, a head up display, surround view cameras and the Driving Assistant Professional system. In short, it is intended to look and feel like a proper premium small SUV without the usual eye-watering premium price.

These pricing changes build on the models work since launch, with the iX1 earning several category wins in independent testing and holding the title of the bestselling fully electric BMW here for the past three years. The iX2 has also proved popular, finishing as the brands second highest selling battery electric model in 2025.

If you like the idea of electric torque delivered instantly and with the kind of neat packaging BMW prefers, these adjusted prices make the iX1 and iX2 worth another look. They are clever, practical and now surprisingly persuasive on the wallet as well.
