Tokyo, October 29, 2025, Mitsubishi Motors lifted the curtain on the Mitsubishi Elevance Concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, and it was far more than a showpiece. On the same stage the company displayed a prototype of the new Delica D:5, a tougher, steadier minivan, and announced that the all-new Delica Mini, a super height-wagon kei-car, goes on sale in Japan today. The theme of the booth is “Forever Adventure,” which, as the company’s president and chief executive officer said, is about keeping the thrill of exploration alive even as technology steps in to help.
Mitsubishi Elevance Concept
Think of the Elevance Concept as a luxury crossover that secretly wants to be an expedition vehicle. It is an electrified crossover SUV with smooth, seamless lines and a quad-motor four-wheel system built around Mitsubishi’s Super-All Wheel Control, or S-AWC. The powertrain is a plug-in hybrid that can run on carbon-neutral fuels and uses a large-capacity traction battery to behave like a quiet electric car for everyday trips, then switch to hybrid mode for longer journeys without range anxiety.
The designers have imagined the cabin as a place to linger, not just pass through. Pair the battery with a trailer and you get something approaching a perfectly appointed mobile retreat, with enough juice to run appliances and make overnight stops feel rather like high-end camping.
Exterior Design Inspired By The Luxe Adventurer Concept
The exterior aims to be elegant and robust at once. The capsule-style cabin sits on a taut, muscular lower body, and the frame is built on a ring-shaped, high rigidity structure for added reassurance. The front borrows an evolved take on Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield identity, set in a honeycomb grille that suggests both poise and purpose.
Character lines sweep from the headlights to the rear, and the lowered side windows mean passengers can watch the world glide by. It is a car that wants to be seen in the city and taken off the beaten track without embarrassment.
Eco-Friendly PHEV System And Electric 4WD For Outdoor Enjoyment
Underneath is a PHEV system that runs clean and quiet most of the time, with a gasoline engine tuned for carbon-neutral fuels when needed. The S-AWC system has been expanded into a quad-motor layout: in-wheel motors up front to sharpen steering stability and a twin-motor Active Yaw Control arrangement at the rear to deliver drive and composure. Each wheel can be managed independently, which improves traction on rough terrain and helps keep the body level on uneven ground.
The result is a vehicle that aims to be confident over rutted tracks while minimizing wobble and the kind of motion that spoils the trip for passengers prone to carsickness.
AI Co-Driver Suggestions And A High-Class, Comfortable Interior
Inside, Mitsubishi has introduced an AI Co-Driver displayed across screens embedded in the steering area and instrument panel. It suggests destinations based on the driver’s habits and situation, reads surrounding conditions in real time, and can recommend the best drive mode for the moment. That is technology serving curiosity, not crushing it.
The cabin itself is laid out as a seamless shell from dash to floor, with a sweeping monitor that runs from driver to passenger and helps reveal blind spots and areas normally out of sight. There is room for six across three rows, leather seats that aim to keep you comfortable on long runs, and space to haul a trailer. With provisions for a kitchen and shower enclosure powered by the PHEV system, the concept turns an overnight stop into something more akin to refined glamping.
Delica Series Evolution
The Delica range has been a practical stalwart for decades, built to carry people and gear across a wide variety of roads and weather conditions. It is designed to be versatile and reliable, whether shuttling the family or serving as the base for weekend adventures.
New Delica D:5 (Prototype)
The Delica D:5 prototype is pitched as an enhanced all-around MPV. It keeps the roomy comfort of a minivan while adopting S-AWC to improve steering stability and handling on mixed surfaces. The styling has been sharpened to balance toughness with polish, with new grille and bumper elements and wheel arch moldings that underline its off-road intent. Inside, metal-accented panels and digital displays aim to give a more premium, outdoor-gear feel.
All-New Delica Mini
The all-new Delica Mini is a super height-wagon kei-car that takes the Delica name into compact territory. It combines a surprisingly airy interior with improved driving dynamics and user friendliness. The exterior has been tweaked to look outdoorsy and appealing, the cabin refined, and five newly added drive modes give the little Delica more versatility than its size suggests.
Starting November 1, Mitsubishi will offer a virtual reality experience that lets people explore the booth and its concepts online. The Japan Mobility Show 2025 runs with press days and a special invitation day at the end of October, opening to the public from October 31 through November 9.
