Step One, Australia’s game-changing underwear brand, has released a Nippers collection for kids to help raise funds for Surf Life Saving Australia.

After raising $250, 000 for SLSA in 2024, Step One hopes to make an even greater impact in 2025.

“I am so pleased with how the first year of our partnership went,” says Greg Taylor, founder of Step One.

“I grew up rowing and swimming at the beach, and I, like many Australians, understand how important beach safety is. To be able to contribute means the world to me. We had such great feedback with the range we created for the partnership, so we are thrilled to be able to add a kids range this year to help us raise more funds.”

Surf Life Saving Australia is a community cause committed to reducing coastal drownings. Every day, their surf lifesavers rescue 30 people and conduct 451 preventative actions every hour. In 2024, Step One created a bespoke SLSA range and donated $5 for every pair sold to SLSA. They also invested in advertising to promote the cause and the summer safety message to help reduce drownings.

In addition to raising funds, there is no doubt that surf lifesavers need to battle with the elements. From being sandy, cold, wet, and ultimately chafed. While rash creams and a hot shower can help, going to work in moisture-wicking, breathable underwear that is designed to reduce the risk of chafing, will allow surf lifesavers to remain comfortable, alert, and vigilant.

“We have set out to understand the science of underwear because we believe that a good day starts with good undies,” says founder of Step One, Greg Taylor.
“We have created technical garments that prevent chafe and ride up, and our lifesavers need and deserve it.”

Adam Weir, CEO of SLSA adds “Our volunteers do a phenomenal job of keeping our beaches safe, but it wouldn’t be possible without organisations like Step One. We are thrilled to be working with Step One to give our surf lifesavers the support they need, from vital training and rescue equipment to chafe-free underwear.”
