The Challenge Day:

To prepare for the challenge, I decided to spend the whole day prepping by not eating at all and hitting the gym in the morning. By about 3 PM, I was ready and eager to tackle the beastly burrito.

3:00 PM – The Challenge Begins:

I arrived at Mad Mex, collected the massive 1kg burrito, and the can of Liquid Death. The anticipation was building as I drove home, knowing that I was about to face one of the toughest food challenges around. The pictures online did no justice to just how monstrous this thing was. It was a behemoth of a burrito, packed tightly with an intimidating amount of fillings.

It was when I sat down at home, with this monster in front of me, that I realised this was no small challenge. The sheer size of the burrito was overwhelming, and the can of Liquid Death beside it added to the dramatic effect. As soon as the clock hit 3 PM, I took a deep breath and got into it. The first few bites were delicious and satisfying, but I knew I had a long way to go.

3:05 PM – Five Minutes In:

At the five-minute mark, I was already feeling full. The sheer size and weight of the burrito were daunting, and I could feel it sitting heavily in my stomach. Every bite seemed to add to the burden, but I couldn’t bring myself to stop there. I had committed to this challenge, and I was determined to see it through. I pushed through, each bite feeling heavier than the last.

3:10 PM – Ten Minutes In:

By ten minutes, I was struggling hard. My pace had slowed significantly, and every bite was a battle. The burrito felt like it was expanding in my stomach, making it increasingly difficult to continue. The combination of the dense burrito and the Liquid Death was both a blessing and a curse. The water helped wash down the heavy bites, but it also added to the overall volume I was trying to consume. The thought of completing the challenge kept me going, even though I could feel my resolve weakening with each passing second.

3:14 PM – The Final Stretch:

At 14 minutes and 17 seconds, I took my last bite and triumphantly finished the challenge. The feeling of accomplishment was overwhelming. I don’t think I have, in my 24 years on this earth, ever eaten so much in one sitting. As I leaned back in my chair, I felt a mix of exhaustion and triumph. Completing the Mad Mex Big Burrito Challenge was no easy feat, but the sense of achievement made every bite worth it. The satisfaction of knowing I had pushed my limits and come out victorious was indescribable.

More About the Challenge:

Mad Mex is taking the possibility of a permanent food coma seriously by offering a promotion with a plot twist. Anyone daring enough to take on the challenge will go in the running to win a grand prize to die for—a foot (and body) in the door of the Australian property market. A place to set up roots, prime real estate in the dead centre of town… your own personal plot of land in a cemetery.

Every property empire started somewhere, so this hallowed piece of dirt could be just the beginning. While Aussie property prices soar and the cost of living grows more expensive than ever, it’s nice to know that you could have a plot of land you can eventually call home.

To enter, customers just need to purchase a Big Burrito combo and write the inscription for their own tombstone or for a mate who valiantly tried and failed to complete the Big Burrito and Liquid Death challenge. The winner, who will be announced on 1 August, will then become the proud owner of a burial plot—it’s safe to say your future is set in stone.

From just $25.95, the Big Burrito and Liquid Death combo will be available across Mad Mex stores nationally or via delivery from Uber Eats or the Mad Mex app until 21 July. For full details, visit the Mad Mex website.

So, if you think you have what it takes to tackle this monstrous burrito, head over to Mad Mex and give it a go. Who knows, you might just win yourself a piece of land to call your own!
