MINI 1965 Victory Edition: Limited To 30 Australian Cars
mini 1965 victory edition 2
It was a tiny car that once made giants look clumsy and now MINI has decided to spray that cheeky arrogance across a modern limited edition. Meet the MINI 1965 Victory Edition – a little red machine that remembers its rallying past and insists you do too.
The run is absurdly exclusive – 30 cars for Australia. There are two flavours: a petrol John Cooper Works with a hot 2.0-litre engine, and an all-electric John Cooper Works with full electric shove. There will be 20 petrols and 10 electrics, they arrive in showrooms in Q2 2026, and yes, you will have to move faster than most people to secure one.
On paper the petrol JCW is properly brisk – 231 horsepower and 380 Newton-metres, managing 0-100 km/h in about 6.1 seconds. The electric JCW is no shrinking violet either – 258 horsepower and a 0-100 sprint in roughly 5.9 seconds. One is a howling internal combustion affair, the other is a silent, urgent shove into the future. Both are unapologetically MINI in spirit.
Heritage Reimagined
The 1965 Victory Edition wears its history like a very proud sash. Chili Red paintwork, a white bonnet stripe that flows over the roof and rear, and a white “52” graphic on the flanks that tips its hat to a famous race number. There is a discreet 1965 badge on the C-pillar and the choice of a panoramic glazed roof if you want to feel the sky while you pretend you are in a competition you won decades ago.

Wheels are exclusive 18-inch JCW designs – Lap Spoke two-tone for the petrol cars and a black Mastery Spoke for the electric versions – with floating centre caps and JCW valve detailing to add a touch of motorsport theatre to your commute.
Inside, Motorsport Meets Craft
Open the door and MINI continues the performance pantomime. Illuminated sill plates scream 1965 in white on red and black, and each car carries a dedication plaque inside the door. The cabin is wrapped in anthracite and red, which is dealer-speak for serious but sporty, with little heritage flourishes: 1965 stamped on the six o’clock steering spoke, embossed lettering on the centre console, and the historic racing number on the key cap.

There are close-up touches that tell you this is not a mere sticker job. The steering wheel gets a tri-colour woven stripe and a tiny 1965 tab for anyone who enjoys details more than coincidence.

This edition arrives at a time when appetite for performance MINIs is strong. The John Cooper Works family accounted for a sizeable chunk of MINI sales recently, and electrified MINIs are no longer a curiosity – they are a solid slice of the market.
So if you want a compact car with more character than sense and the bragging rights to match, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition will be in a showroom near you next year – but only for those fast enough to catch one of the 30.
