You thought Subarus came in sensible boxes with endless practicality and a faint whiff of sensible boots. Think again. The Trailseeker is the brand’s new all-electric SUV that tries to be both a proper adventurer and a cheeky hooligan at the lights. It arrives in Australia in Q2 2026 and promises to be the quickest production Subaru ever. Yes, ever.

Performance That Feels Like A Smile

Under the foot-stomping right pedal the Trailseeker produces 280 kW of combined power and rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.4 seconds. That makes it the fastest-accelerating Subaru built for the road. It’s not just silly straight-line speed though. The drivetrain has been tuned to deliver that shove in a way that still feels composed rather than feral, so you get the fun without needing to update your therapy.

Built Like A Proper All-Roader

This is no city-dweller pretending to be tough. With 211 mm of ground clearance, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard and a low centre of gravity, Trailseeker insists on being taken off the beaten track. Subaru’s engineers have kept the brand’s emphasis on predictable traction and stability, so whether you’re on gravel, mud, or a motorway tailgate, it behaves like a confident companion rather than a nervous wreck.

New Platform, Sharper Intent

At the heart of the car is Subaru’s next-generation e-Subaru Global Platform, purpose-built to handle higher outputs, longer range and smarter AWD control. The architecture is rigid and well balanced and it manages power distribution, traction and balance in real time. The upshot is a driving experience that feels planted and assured, even when you’re being mildly irresponsible.

Battery, Range And Everyday Use

The Trailseeker runs on a 74.7 kWh CATL battery and claims up to 533 kilometres of range under standard test cycles. Fast-charging at up to 150 kW gets the battery from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 30 minutes. There is also 22 kW three-phase AC charging and a 1500 W Vehicle-to-Load function for camping kettles or powering your gadgets. Practicality isn’t neglected either; the vehicle offers a 1,500 kg braked towing capacity so it can haul a trailer for real-world adventures.

Where It Sits In The Line-Up

Trailseeker slots into Subaru’s expanding electric SUV family alongside the refreshed Solterra and joins a broader range that includes hybrid and rugged options. It presents a larger, more adventure-focused choice for buyers who want genuine off-road capability with the drama of electric performance. Registration of interest is open through Subaru’s Australian channels, and full specification and pricing will be revealed closer to launch.
