The latest update to Sennheiser Smart Control App introduces significant enhancements, allowing users of the brand’s connected consumer audio devices to unlock even more potential from the new MOMENTUM and ACCENTUM true wireless earbuds. This release is packed with innovative features designed to enhance user convenience and expand the functionality of these cutting-edge earbuds.
Introducing the Auracast Assistant
At the forefront of this update is the Sennheiser Auracast assistant, which provides a seamless way to access the “one-to-many” broadcasting capabilities of Auracast technology. This feature enables users to share audio experiences with others effortlessly. Whether it’s sharing a song with a friend or accessing information in a museum through a native language broadcast, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 and ACCENTUM True Wireless earbuds, both released in 2024, are now Auracast ready. A forthcoming firmware update will activate this Bluetooth® LE Audio-based technology on these devices.
Polina Gartenfluss, Sennheiser’s Senior Product Owner, highlighted the importance of this update, stating, “Smart Control continues to evolve with our customers’ needs while integrating features that are indispensable for power users. Auracast assistant makes choosing an Auracast broadcast as easy as can be for MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 and ACCENTUM True Wireless wearers.” The Smart Control app also allows users to manage Auracast connections from devices that do not natively support this technology, such as using an iPhone to connect to an Auracast stream at an airport gate.
Never Lose Your Earbuds Again
Another notable addition in this update is the “Find your buds” feature, which helps users keep track of their earbuds’ last known location. This functionality is available for ACCENTUM True Wireless, MOMENTUM Sport, and MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 models. By utilizing smartphone location services, the Smart Control App can display where the earbuds were last connected. Additionally, users can “ping” their nearby earbuds by activating an audible signal, making it easier to locate misplaced devices.
Gartenfluss commented on this feature, stating, “Because our customers take their earbuds everywhere, it made perfect sense to give our newest true wireless releases find-my-device capabilities, too.” This addition is particularly beneficial for frequent travelers, remote workers, and athletes who are often on the move.
Availability
The new features, including the Auracast assistant, are available in Smart Control App version 4.9.0 and later, which can be downloaded from the App Store for iOS devices or the Google Play Store for Android devices. While Auracast functionality is currently available on the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4, it will soon be coming to the ACCENTUM True Wireless via a firmware update. The “Find headphones” feature is also available for the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4, ACCENTUM True Wireless, and MOMENTUM Sport models, following a firmware update through the Smart Control App.
With these updates, Sennheiser continues to push the boundaries of audio technology, ensuring that their customers have the best possible experience with their true wireless earbuds.
